Ask Us Anything: What Nobody Tells You About Developing Housing as a Congregation

For many congregational leaders, the idea of developing housing on church-owned property raises more questions than anyone has clearly answered—until now.

This panel brings together the architects, housing finance experts, and social impact practitioners who work in development every day, alongside a fellow pastor who has been walking this road for three years. It's a rare opportunity to sit across from the people who know this process inside and out, ask the questions you haven't known who to ask, and get honest clarity on what this journey actually requires, before you commit to anything.

Whether you're discerning whether development is right for your congregation or you're already leaning in and want to understand what's ahead, this conversation is designed to meet you where you are.

Come ready to explore:

  • What developers and architects are actually looking at when they evaluate a site

  • How housing finance works, and where the real gaps and opportunities are in San Antonio

  • What the development process looks like from the inside, including what surprises even well-prepared congregations

  • What it has meant for one faith community to navigate this journey in their own words

This is also a chance to make connections. Panelists will be available for informal conversation after the session, an opportunity to continue the dialogue and begin building relationships with people who can walk alongside your congregation.

*While offered as a part of Good Acres Faith in Housing, this event is open to all.
